Meet the main committee team...
Cherwell Runners and Joggers is run by an enthusiastic and experienced team who are dedicated to making the club as friendly, successful and fun as possible.
The Committee meets every 6 weeks to talk all things club related. If you have anything you would like to share or ideas to put forward please let us know!
Club Secretary
Jenny Ballinger

My name is Jenny and I am the Club Secretary. I’m also one of the club run leaders.
I have been running for approximately 15 years – mainly just in the fields and lanes around where I live.
Since joining the club in October 2022 I have taken part in a number of running events (I prefer to see everything as a challenge rather than a race). My biggest achievement so far has been taking part in Banbury 15 (a hilly 15 mile race which goes through my village).
I love the social side of running and setting myself challenges.
When I am not running I love being on or in water. I lived on a canal baat for 15 years. I now have to make do with swimming , kayaking or occasional paddle boarding – all of which I do recreationally rather than competitively!
Club Captain & Run leader
Nick Macey

I’m Nick, one of the club captains and also a run leader. Although I’ve run informally most of my life, a chance encounter with some CRJ members led to me joining the club in 2019. Using running to maintain my mental as well as physical health, my ideal run is an offroad or trail run, anywhere between half-marathon and ultra-marathon distance. Away from running, I try to spend as much time as I can ‘in real life’ and as little as possible online – a preference which is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain!
Member’s Secretary
Dawn Osborne

My name is Dawn and I am the Member’s Secretary and a welfare officer at CRJ. I’m also one of the coaches. I joined the club in 1996. Since then I have competed in lots of distances including several marathons and ultra marathons including my biggest challenge The Welsh 3000. When I’m not running I love spending time with our 2 horses, reading, cooking and art.
Chairperson & RUN leader
Phil Robinson

I’m Phil. I’m the club Chairperson and one of the club run leaders. I moved down to Banbury in August 2022 and joining the club soon after has helped me to settle in the area – it has been great to make friends and improve my running at the same time! In my spare time, I can normally be found walking, reading, quizzing or drinking coffee.
Social Secretary
Ollie Soans

I’m Ollie! I organise the social events for the club, and our ‘European Tour’!
I started running back in August 2023 as a complete beginner. I always hated running at school, and never thought I’d be a runner – but quickly became hooked! I ran my first marathon in September 2024, and I’ve already signed up for more! When I’m not on a run, I enjoy helping out as a marshal at Silverstone, playing netball, getting outside and exploring the countryside!
Grand Prix guru
Will Morgan

I’m Will, I help set the Grand Prix calendar and compile the results.
I started running in 2014. Back then I enjoyed running an infrequent 5k and thought marathons were something I’d only watch on TV. I joined the club in 2016. 18 months later, inspired by my new running friends I ran my first marathon at Stratford. It’s like London, but fewer crowds and shorter queues for the toilets.
I’ve recently started to learn the piano.. It reminds me running isn’t so difficult after all.
Club captian & RUN leader
Helen Roberts

I’m Helen one of the club captains and a run leader. My running journey started with fitness tests at work – I was awful at it and hated it. Many, many years later Parkrun came to Banbury and as a result running became a fun social habit.
I joined CRJ in 2022. It caters for everyone and anyone – all abilities speeds and experience. It’s my conscience to make sure I get out at least twice a week, it’s my social lifeline and a me-time to decompress and de-stress. Oh, and I was lucky enough to win the club London Marathon place in 2024, there’s not a person I’ve met since that I haven’t told all about it!!
Lead Welfare Officer & COACH
Kelly Selby

I’m Kelly. I’m the Lead Welfare Officer for the club and one of the coaches.
I started running with the club when I turned 18 and in that time have come to find I love helping everyone else get the best out of their runs. I enjoy social runs and casual events, with distances ranging from just a mile or two, up to 50k!
As a coach, my favourite sessions include hills, sprints and the occasional jump. For me, running is about making it as fun and inclusive as possible.
